Course manager:

Jérôme PORTA

Description of the course

Two-year course (Masters 1 and 2) with lectures at the Faculty of Law at the University of Bordeaux and two periods spent abroad.

Course aims

The “Comparative Employment Law” (Droit social comparé) Master’s was created with a view to promoting students’ European and international mobility whilst maintaining a disciplinary specialisation. The aim is to enable students to specialise in employment law and gain an extra skill in comparative law.
The Comparative Employment Law course is intended to train legal specialists in employment law who are open to the globalisation of the law.
The course has dual aims.
First aim: to train legal officers/advisors specialised in both French and European employment law. The students enrolled on the course take most of the classes in labour law and social protection. The training offer is based on the “Employment law and social protection” strand.
Second aim: to train legal officers/advisors with skills in comparative law. Studying foreign law allows students to acquire an in-depth understanding of labour law and social protection and the contemporary developments in the field. The aim is to train legal officers/advisors with a solid grounding in employment law and the skills to understand, discuss and critique the developments in the field. The latter skill has become a decisive factor in the training of legal officers/advisors in this area of law, which is constantly changing.
The international mobility element gives the student an advantage in terms of originality and maturity.
